Thanks for the welcome, Ribs. Had to come around and see what those emails were about that I'd been getting from you.

I am new here. Some of you know me as Scargod from Chowhound and the New England board on Chowhound.
I live in the New Haven area. I was excommunicated from Chowhound after years of contributing. I feel I have a lot to offer and I want to be involved in a fair exchange of information and ideas. I am a native Texan. I've been in New Haven area for over seven years. I'm more into fine dining than I am hot dogs and burgers. Still, I do eat all kinds of food, in all kinds of joints. Cheap, authentic Mexican and Southern style Q joints are just up my alley... I think I know good food and I realize it all doesn't have to come from a fancy, expensive restaurant. I like Thai, anything Asian, Indian, Italian, Spanish, French and Greek food. I have few turn-offs. I virtually will not eat chain restaurant food. I don't want to talk about it or hear about it. I think we get enough commercials about most of it to know what it is all about. I am a pretty good cook. I don't mind being called a "foodie". I believe in "things in moderation" and a healthy lifestyle. That is why you will not see me in "all you can eat" places, in buffet lines or in that many greasy spoons. But to each his own. If someone can point me towards a high quality hot dog, I might try it. Show me a good Chicken Fried Steak and I will eat it! I am hoping to help people primarily in the Connecticut and New England area and specifically in the southern and central area of Connecticut. -------------------- Try this jalapeno, son. It ain't hot!

Welcome Scargo, glad to see you here.
And a first review with pictures too -- nice! I believe I remember you from CH and I don't think I've ever read the New England board so you must have posted from time to time on the Texas board. -------------------- |

We have a good number of new members recently (welcome all!) and we moved over the 500 member milestone this week!
Let me point out a couple of threads about using your gallery and making changes to personalize your membership. We love photos so please add them in any way you feel comfortable but we can host them for you and the gallery is very easy to use. http://www.roguefood.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=3228 http://www.roguefood.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=3570 |

I believe I remember you from CH and I don't think I've ever read the New England board so you must have posted from time to time on the Texas board. Yes, after 50+ years in Texas (and being a native), I have been known to talk about food in Dallas and Austin, in particular. MY son cooks in Austin, when he's not pursuing his art. A good friend (who goes by "Passadumkeg" on Chowhound), and I did a road trip across the US in April and chronicled it on Chowhound. There was a lot about New Mexico, Texas and Louisiana. I/we get back home about twice a year. Thanks BTW, Thanks Ribs for the tip about options as to where to put photos. -------------------- Try this jalapeno, son. It ain't hot!

That should be some good reading about good eating. I'm self-exiled from CH (I got tired of them before they got tired of me) but I read over there from time to time - can you pass along a link to the thread? -------------------- |

I just joined a couple of days ago. I found this site quite by accident. I was putting together a review on the other RF, and was telling the restaurant owner about it. He comes back and said there wasn't anything on Rogue Food dot com...so that's how it all started for me. Once RF puts the review up, I'll link it.
I just moved back to west-central Indiana in August. Several job transfers took me to CA (where I'm from originally), then Arlington TX, and now back here. My various jobs have taken me all over the country, so I got into hitting local places rather then chains. My current territory covers IN, IL, KY and eastern TN (Nashville and east). I don't really consider myself a foodie, although I do like to cook and have been instrumental in developing several food items found in stores. I'm more of a homestyle cook. I'll pretty much eat anything you put in front of me. My mom is Japanese, so I learned early on that not everyone considers what I eat to be normal I hope to be a quality contributor here, and not a real smart a$$ (although my sense of humor can be a bit snarky and warped) BTW, I am a Purdue grad, hence the 'boilermaker' moniker. -------------------- Any landing you can walk away from is a good one
